Challenge
Ten years ago, the Cleveland Metroparks Watershed Resource Center built a 10' x 10' table that served as a topographic model of the watershed and it's surrounding area. The problem was that the "software" that was promised was ultimately just a Powerpoint slideshow. With such an ecologically diverse area and set of stories, the WRC realized that they needed a more expansive and creative approach to teach visitors about their community.
Results
Built in partnership with Formula D_ and AVI/SPL's XTG team, we crafted a fully interactive exhibit driven by gesture tracking that not only teaches visitors about the living environment and plant/animal species surrounding the Watershed Resource Center where the exhibit is located, but also includes a game mode that encourages visitors to actively engage in protecting their neighborhood and the watershed from a coming storm by utilizing proactive water management approaches.
